An all purpose maintenance coating especially suitable for application to surfaces with a minimum of surface preparation. Provides exceptional protection of steel exposed to brine, salt air, water and industrial atmosphere e.g. on tanks, tank roofs, pipe runs, pipe racks, steel structures, etc. Sand blasting or other elaborate surface preparation is not necessary; Versakote-2001 may be applied directly over mill scale and tight rust. This coating when dry is weld able and need not be removed before cutting or welding.

Versakote-2001 requires a minimum of surface preparation, but loose mill scale, loose rust, peeling paint and other surface contaminants such as oil; grease and water must be removed before application of Versakote-2001. Water blasting, wet blasting, sand sweeping, power tool cleaning is an economical method of removing surface contaminants.
Normally none required, however, if the Versakote-2001 has been in transit or stored over and extended period of time agitation with a "Jiffy Mixer" will restore the product if separation has occurred.
Is recommended such as Graco 28:1 pump, "Golden Gun" with .018-1027 orifice.
Paint pressure pot with agitator, double regulators, moisture traps, 1/2" I.D. fluid hose, 5/16" I.D. airhose. DeVilbiss PMBC 510 gun with "E" tip and needle.
Apply in wet will atomized coats overlapping each pass 50%. Double pass all welds, rivets, corners and edges, etc. Do not use excessive air atomization pressure. Recommended thickness 10-12 mils DFT on new steel. Heavier film may be required to cover rough surfaces.
In confined areas, provide adequate fresh air ventilation; use fresh air masks and explosion proof equipment. Forbid all flames, smoking and welding in work area. This product cures by solvent evaporation and therefore requires adequate ventilation until cured to insure against the formation of an explosive atmosphere in tanks or compartments.
Safety Equipment Required:
Explosion proof lights and electrical equipment. Fresh air mask such as DeVilbiss P-MPH 527 and P-MPH 529, connected by 1/4" I.D. hose directly to air source. Non-sparking shoes or tools for workers in area. Exhaust fan of sufficient capacity to keep solvent vapors below 20% of the explosive limit or 1/4% by volume of solvent vapor in air.
