Description: A physical drying long life antifouling based on Vinyl Resin and a high content of cuprous oxide biocide that prevents marine growth on ships trading between cold water to subtropical ports.

Principle Characteristics: Prevents settlement of bacterial, shell and weed fouling for prolong periods. Protects for approximately 30 months when applied two coats (3.0 mil each) of the antifoulant. Recommended for use on barges, ships and drilling vessels. Suitable for steel, wood and fiber glass substrates.

Surface Preparation:
This product is designed to be applied on high performance bottom protective systems. Prior to the application of this product ensure that the paint substrate is intact and free from contaminants. All damaged areas of the system should be rectified and made good to ensure uniformity of the system. The substrate should then be thoroughly degreased in accordance with SSPC-SPI. All dust should be removed from the substrate by using clean brushes and/or dry compressed airline. Ensure that the substrate is completely dry prior to the application of this product.

Application Data:
Apply by airless spray, brush*, roller*.
Devilbiss MBC-510 gun with "E" tip and needles 705 air cap. Material hose 1/2" ID, air hose 5.16" ID.

Type and percentage of Thinner: Airless Spray: 995 appr. 5-10% by vol.
Brush, roller: 995 apprx. 3-5% by vol.

* For a two coat antifouling system a tinted shade for color difference is available. Can be applied in one operation by means of airless spray up to a DFT of 100 microns/4mil.*) more coats required for specified DFT.

Antifouling paints must be stirred at intervals since the pigments may tend to settle. Power mix or box the paint until product is uniform.

Additional Application Data:
The recommended method of application is by airless spray. Brush or roller may be used for small isolated areas only. The spray fan should be adjusted depending on the nature and the shape of the substrate to be painted in order that over spray can be restricted to a minimum. The substrate temperature before coating should be 5-7 F above the dew point. Special care must be taken on the areas off Peak and ballast tanks when high relative humidity's are observed. Application at freezing temperatures: as ice crystals are hard to observe special care for an ice free surface has to be taken. A substrate temperature of over 50 C/122 F and/or a relative humidity over 85% should be avoided. When exposed to direct sunlight or high temperatures, launching is recommended no more than 24 hours after application.

Safety Precautions:
During application take normal precautions such as wearing safety gloves, face masks and eye shields. Adequate ventilation must be maintained when applying this product in confined spaces. Observe all statutory local by-laws with respect to health and safety together with the laws governing storage of flammable liquid products. Keep material away from sparks and open flames. Consult Material Safety Data Sheet before use.
